History of the Castle Gardens
Since its foundation at the end of the 17th century, the Č. Krumlov castle gardens developed in a way that faithfully reflected the styles of garden art of the various periods. The garden was created according to an early baroque compositional scheme and later on displayed the spirit of Viennese rococo in its shape.
From the end of the 18th century, the complicated rococo garden was gradually changed with simple classicist arrangements. In the 19th century the appearance of the garden was radically changed into the style of an "English park". During the last three decades, the garden has been undergoing progressive historic renovation and restoration.
